Motomichi Nakamura, a Japanese-born digital media artist, animator, and immersive projection mapping artist, is acclaimed for his unique style that brings abstract monsters to life in vivid and imaginative ways. Now based in Croton On Hudson, NY, Nakamura graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York and has earned international recognition for transforming cities into canvases for his art. His creativity, inspired by childhood dreams of monsters hiding under the bed, infuses his work with a playful yet haunting energy.

Nakamura’s animated films have been featured at major festivals, including Sundance, Onedotzero, Pictoplasma, and the Holland International Film Festival, while his experimental film Okami recently won at The Leeds International Film Festival. His projection installations have appeared in prominent museums and galleries worldwide, including the New Museum of Contemporary Art (NY), Winzavod (Moscow), MARCO (Monterrey, Mexico), and Gaite Lyrique (Paris).

His digital nature and innovative approach to media have paved the way for a new collaboration with the Web3 creative production studio SUYE, where his talents will soon expand into the world of blockchain and digital collectibles. This partnership is set to merge Nakamura’s artistic vision with cutting-edge Web3 technology, offering exciting new ways to experience and engage with his work in virtual and physical spaces.

Commercially, Nakamura has collaborated with top clients such as MTA New York, Channel 4, EA, MTV, USA Networks, and UNIQLO. He has also created music videos and short films for artists like Nicola Cruz and The Knife, further solidifying his place as a visionary artist.
